Bay Haven Counseling

How do I get started?

There are many ways you can contact me to schedule a free consultation. You can call, text, email, or submit the contact form on my website. I will respond within 2 business days.

What is a consultation call?

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, and finding the right therapist is important. A consultation call gives us a chance to connect, talk about what you're looking for, and see if working together feels like a good fit. It will take about 15 minutes and give you an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about my approach, and determine whether you feel comfortable moving forward. My goal is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in your decision.

What should I expect once I make an appointment?

Once we've found a time that works for your schedule, I'll send you access to my HIPAA-compliant client portal, where you'll be able to complete the informed consent and intake paperwork. I ask that all forms be completed at least 24 hours before our first session to help ensure a smooth start to our work together. If you plan on using insurance, I will collect your insurance information and verify your benefits so we can review any applicable copays, deductibles, or coverage limitations before we meet.

What will my first session be like?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, supportive therapeutic relationship. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your personal history, identify goals, and talk about what you hope to gain from the process. There is no pressure to share everything at once - this session is simply a starting point, and we'll move at a pace that feels right for you.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! I am currently in network with Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare/Optum, Oxford/Optum, Medicare, Carelon Behavioral Health, Curative, Providence Health Plan, Point 32 Healthcare (Vermont), and Anthem BCBS (Connecticut).

What if I want to self-pay for services or you don't accept my insurance?

Self pay sessions are $150 for individual and family therapy. To simplify payment, self pay clients are asked to keep a card on file. Your payment information is stored securely through a HIPAA-compliant practice management system and secure payment processor.

If you do not see your insurance listed above, I recommend contacting your insurance provider to determine if they will cover out of network for mental health services. I am happy to provide a superbill for services so that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

At this time, I am only offering sessions virtually. I am able to see clients living in Florida, Vermont, Connecticut, and South Carolina. Online sessions are held through a secure, HIPAA-compliant tele-health platform that is integrated with my electronic health record system. This technology is designed to protect your confidentiality and keep your personal information secure, allowing us to meet virtually while maintaining the same commitment to privacy as in-person therapy.

I am hoping to open an in-person office location soon in the Tampa/Clearwater area.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Please contact me for a consultation to inquire about discounted self-pay rates.
